The legal obligation you cannot ignore
Spain has required tourist accommodations to register guest data with police since the Orden INT/1922/2003. The current framework — updated under Real Decreto 933/2021 — tightened the requirements significantly, adding more data fields and stricter deadlines.
Every property that accommodates paying guests is covered: hotels, hostels, apartments, rural houses, campsites, and even individual rooms rented via platforms. There are no exemptions for small operators.
The submission must be made within 24 hours of check-in. A missed submission — even for a single booking — is an infraction.
