BookCheckin grew out of the day-to-day running of 176 tourist apartments in Spain. It is not a boardroom idea: it is the tool we needed to keep up with traveller registration without losing hours every week.

It automates guest data collection, document scanning with OCR and the filing of the traveller report to SES Hospedajes under RD 933/2021 — with no facial recognition and without storing document images. Why BookCheckin exists
Running tourist accommodation in Spain, we hit the same problem every single day: collect each guest’s details, retype them by hand and upload them one by one to the Ministry of the Interior’s system before the 24-hour deadline in Royal Decree 933/2021 ran out. Slow, repetitive, and all too easy for a report to slip through unsent.
We built BookCheckin to solve it at the root. The guest gets a check-in link as soon as the booking is confirmed, fills in their details, scans their ID document with their phone camera and signs — all before they arrive. Once the check-in is complete, we generate the traveller report and file it with SES Hospedajes, with the Ministry’s acknowledgement on record.
Every feature runs daily on our own bookings before it reaches yours. That is why we are strict about what we promise: we would rather explain clearly what the product does and what it does not do yet than inflate the feature list.

SES Hospedajes — and, in Catalonia, the file for the Mossos
Outside Catalonia and the Basque Country we send traveller reports to the Spanish Ministry of the Interior’s system under RD 933/2021. Catalonia runs its own registry: you add the identifier the Mossos d’Esquadra issued your establishment once, in the property’s Legal tab, and confirm it. Until it is on file no check-in links can be created; once it is, check-in works exactly as it does anywhere else and we generate the file in the official Mossos format for you to upload at registreviatgers.mossos.gencat.cat — we never send anything to the Mossos ourselves. BookCheckin supports accommodation in the Basque Country: add the establishment code the Ertzaintza issued you on the property’s Legal tab and switch it on, and the check-in link, the ID scan and the signature work end to end. BookCheckin then prepares the file in the XML format of the Ertzaintza’s Registro Hostelero, and you download it and upload it in their portal with your own login. BookCheckin never signs in to that portal and holds no Ertzaintza credential.
Italy (Alloggiati Web): we transmit it, with your credentials
Where the accommodation has enabled filing to Italy, BookCheckin transmits the schedina straight to Alloggiati Web: we sign in with the Utente, Password and WS Key the Questura issued the accommodation, which we keep encrypted. We transmit within 24 hours of arrival (6 hours for a stay of 24 hours or less). The obligation and the credentials remain the accommodation’s, and BookCheckin cannot cancel or correct a submission once transmitted. We do not cover the CIN, ISTAT or the imposta di soggiorno, and we do not verify the Questura registration.
Document scanning with OCR, no facial recognition
The guest photographs their DNI, NIE or passport and we extract the data with optical character recognition (OCR). We do not use facial recognition at check-in: we read the document, not the face.
We do not store document images
We use the photo of the document to read the data and we do not keep it. We retain only the information the regulations require us to report, encrypted and with access restricted per property.

We are the team that runs the properties BookCheckin came out of. We write the guide and the articles on SES Hospedajes, the traveller report and RD 933/2021 compliance from that daily operation, not from theory.
Catalonia is covered now: the property registers its Mossos d’Esquadra identifier, check-in works just as it does in the rest of Spain, and we get the file ready for you to upload at the Mossos portal. The Basque Country is covered too: BookCheckin prepares the Ertzaintza file and you upload it. Italy too: where it is enabled, we transmit it ourselves with the credentials the accommodation keeps on file. And when the product does not cover something yet, we say so on this very page, before you sign up.
